25 perfect gifts for a traveler in 2026 – compact, practical and accurate

Buying a gift to a person who is constantly traveling is a real art. We leave and come, carry few things and appreciate every extra ounce in a backpack.

It's nice to get something useful -- and if it inspires new routes, it's a bomb. Personally, I’m the “don’t like the extra gadget” traveler, but there are things on this list that I really use.

A ticket is the perfect gift (and if anyone is thinking about giving me a gift, a window by the plane, please). But if you want to give something material, below is a selection of practical, unstressed and proven ideas. No extra pathos, only things that save nerves, money and travel time.

Advice for solo travelers: many things are more useful in combination with a local guide - he will tell you where to fix things, which markets or cafes are worth visiting, and add stories to each souvenir.

1. Travel castle

Simple, but one of the most important items for a budget traveler. Many hostels have lockers, and their lock saves money (rent is not free and the amount accumulates). I'm used to not leaving without him - somewhere will be useful.
Buy it on Amazon!

2. Loop earplugs

Anyone who has ever slept in a hostel knows: silence there is not worth waiting - snoring, late company, creaking beds ... Good gags are an investment in sleep. Do not skimp on cheap foams: high-quality headphones-plugs protect both on night buses and in noisy cities.

3. Circuit (travel adapter)

Nothing spoils your arrival like knowing you can’t charge your phone. Universal travel adapter, which covers all regions of the world and has USB ports, is an indispensable trifle: easy, inexpensive and convenient.

4. Zbiotics Pre-Alcohol

This is a pre-drink probiotic that helps mitigate the effects of the evening and makes the morning less heavy. A friend introduced us to him more than a year ago, and I started taking trips - it really works. Many of my traveller acquaintances and even one guide in Peru appreciated. If you give this to a person who likes to drink on a trip, you should take a closer look.

5. Scratch travel map from Landmass

Scratch map is a simple and inspiring way to mark the routes traveled: scratch the cover and see a colored country or region. Landmass is my favorite company that makes such cards (there are different sizes and colors). A great gift for those who like to visualize their memories – and a reason to plan their next hike. And a local guide can make your map live: he will tell you the hidden corners worth noting.

6. Passport case

The case protects the passport from wear and make the documents more convenient - usually there are cards and some cash. There is no point in spending money on luxury options: a simple and durable case will perform its function and save money for the next trip.

7. Hand-drawn Food Maps (Hand-drawn Food Maps)

Unique typographical food maps from Legal Nomads and artist Ella Frances Sanders are a great gift for those who love gastro tours. Such maps tell about the taste paths of cities and regions, look great on the wall and inspire new routes. Jodi (Legal Nomads) does really cool things - the range is different. And yes, with a local guide, walking on such maps turns into a small culinary adventure.

This is just the beginning of the list (it has 25 items – the best and proven gifts for travelers of 2026). If you want, I will continue and describe the remaining ideas: from comfortable backpacks and packaging cubes to useful gadgets and unusual gifts for fans of gastronomic discoveries.
