What do you need to know if you give up your car and decide to ride your own iron horse?

 

 

The list of documents that you will need is not so large: passport, driving license, documents for a vehicle, European insurance policy, visa depending on the destination.

 

With obtaining a passport, there are usually no problems: submitting documents to the FMS, waiting a month - two, and you have a passport. Make sure that at the time of travel, the lines of validity of the document exceed three months. Also, it is not superfluous to specify the addresses and telephone numbers of Russian embassies in the countries where you are going.

 

International law. A huge number of our compatriots travel without this document. If the trip went smoothly – it is great, but if you were in an accident, rest assured, you will regret that you did not receive this document.

European type insurance requires you to have an international class, otherwise the insurance agency will refuse payments. International law is short and inexpensive. It will take thirty minutes of time in the department of the traffic police and payment of state duty in the amount of 1000 rubles.

Many people often forget that the international economy operates only in tandem with the national one.

 

Documents for the car will need standard: a certificate of registration of the vehicle and a ticket for the passage of maintenance. But there is a small caveat: if you use the car by proxy, then a simple power of attorney will not work, the document must specify the right to leave Russia. It is possible to facilitate the passage of the border if you assure the power of attorney from a notary - enter the passport data into it.

 

Ticket TO. The inspection ticket (diagnostic card) is issued when buying or registering a car, but if you do not receive it or lose it, you will need to go through control and get a form that already contains all the inscriptions in English.

 

Insurance policy of European class is very simple to purchase, it is inexpensive. It is possible to buy in almost any insurance company, its cost is about 1600 rubles. for 15 days. It is important to know that the document is issued on the vehicle, not on its driver, so it will not matter who will be driving. The policy is issued 30 days before the intended trip.

 

If you are a law-abiding citizen and all fines, alimony and other debts to the state are paid, then you have nothing to fear. But if the amount of debts exceeds 10,000 rubles. abroad you may not be released. Try to pay fines in advance, your paid receipts will not play any role for border guards. In the “debtors’ database”, your name should not be listed, and after paying receipts and removing your name from the database, a certain time must pass.

 

 

 

Traveling around Europe by car is not cheap. If your car allows and you will be comfortable, you can spend the night right in the car, without entering the cost table of the hotel or hostel. In Europe, sleep stops should be made in specially designated places: special gas stations, parking lots for truckers.

 

Be prepared to pay for gasoline from 1.5 euros per liter.

 

You can also save money on toll roads. Either by buying a special pass (vignette) for a week, no more than 10 euros, or you can always drive on a duplicate free road. Yes, the path will be longer, but most likely more picturesque, and definitely free.

 

Paid parking will expand your budget. Paid parking in Europe is common. A couple of tips: shopping centers will not charge for parking for a couple of hours, you can leave the car at the hostel for free, or your iron horse can wait in the suburbs, there are also no meters. The main thing to remember is that the penalty for unpaid parking is higher than the cost itself.

 

Traffic violation is a separate topic for conversation. Usually, when Russians cross the border behave on the roads approximately. And all this is not for nothing: fines in Europe are simply huge, and in the United States for traffic violations you can get a real prison term. Before you go to a new country, be sure to read the rules for motorists. For example, in France, drivers are forbidden to drive without a breathalyzer, and in Germany are punished by a fine “aimless trips” around the city.

 

Traveling in your car is certainly interesting, informative, but expensive. The main thing is to have all the documents with you, to follow the rules, not to break the laws and be able to save.
