Is it possible not to put a visa in the passport?

Can visas and stamps in a passport become a reason for refusing entry into the country? You can face problems not only at customs, but also when checking your passport.

If all the documents provided and the information contained in them are authentic, the difficulties may be associated either with crossing the borders of the conflicting countries or with the lack of space in the passport.

Crossing the border

Going on a trip, learn up-to-date information not only about the internal political situation in the state, but also about the relations of the countries through which you are going to cross the border.

Israel and the Arab States

The Arab countries, tired of fighting Israel, have made a pact among themselves: they do not allow foreigners who have visited Israel. But the parties to the agreement respect it differently.

For example, countries that strictly comply with the rule include: Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Iran, Yemen and Sudan.
While Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and Jordan will allow you to cross the border by asking questions beforehand.
Israel will issue you a visa in a separate insert at your request. Israel will also allow people from any Arab state to visit it, but in some cases, border guards can arrange long interrogations.

Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia

Georgia does not recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia as sovereign independent states, but considers them its territories and has no control over entry and exit there. In 2008, Georgia adopted the Law on Occupied Territories. According to him, for visiting Abkhazia or South Ossetia bypassing Georgian checkpoints, foreigners will be punished up to imprisonment. It should be noted that all these countries have a visa-free regime for residents of the Russian Federation.

Ukraine and Crimea

The international community does not recognize the Crimean Peninsula as the territory of Russia, so entry into the country from the peninsula for citizens of the Russian Federation is prohibited. But there are no marks of a visit, and some travelers still circumvent this ban.

Cyprus: Turkish and Greek part

During the military coup, Cyprus split into the Turkish part and the Greek part. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is recognized only by Turkey. For Russians there is a visa-free border regime, and you can ask to put marks on a separate form, otherwise you may have problems obtaining a visa to the Greek Republic of Cyprus, which is officially recognized in the world, as well as to Greece itself.

There is not enough space in the passport

Cases of refusal to enter the country due to lack of space in the passport are rare, usually border guards make concessions and can put a stamp, strongly recommending obtaining a new passport. To avoid problems, it is necessary to observe the order in the passport and change it in advance.

There is no single set of rules on how visas and stamps should be put. In some countries, border guards observe order in your passport, and somewhere will put a stamp at the end of your passport, even if there are many empty pages. Usually stamps on the entry of a citizen are placed on the left of the date, on the right side - when leaving. And visas are pasted on blank pages.

If you want your passport to serve you the entire term, you can ask the checkpoint to put a visa or stamp where you need it. But they don't make concessions everywhere.

Some tourists vacate their passport illegally. For example, some visas are unfettered on their own, travelers abuse this property and peel them off. Sometimes the stamps are not very high quality, and from this they can burn out. Thus, the tourist leaves the opened passport in the sun and the seal disappears. These methods of getting rid of marks are dangerous - if you detect a violation, you will not be allowed into the country and visas will not be issued to you.

Some countries can be visited with a visa of another state, so you save a little space in the passport. In particular, with a Schengen visa, you can visit 4 countries that are candidates for joining the Schengen area: Romania, Croatia, Bulgaria and Cyprus. For example, you can enter Oman with an Israeli visa.

The best option is to change your passport. With the registration of a new passport, the question of transferring visas that have not yet expired.
In some countries, the visa will have to be obtained again, and for example, in Latvia and Ireland, it is enough to explain the situation to the consul and the visa will be transferred to the new document in less than 2 hours.

But most states do not insist on the transfer of visas, and you can take both documents on the trip: canceled, it has unsealed visas and valid. A new passport cannot be an old passport.

It is worth noting that holders of two passports who have a visa in the canceled passport, but it is not in the new one, should be prepared to spend more time talking to border guards.

If there is a problem, be calm. Don’t get into conflicts, don’t prove yourself right to the border guards – they don’t set the rules. Inappropriate behavior can also be a good reason to refuse entry.
