Tourist note: what you need to know about hostels in Moscow
All over the world, hostels are considered the optimal concept of living for young people and not only. They have a democratic and international atmosphere, allowing tourists from different countries to communicate on an equal footing and have fun.
Hostel accommodation is cheaper than in a traditional hotel. However, you need to be prepared for the fact that you have to share the territory with other guests, which can be quite a lot – three, five or eight people. Most young, open-minded tourists do not perceive this as a serious disadvantage. Real savings, an atmosphere of goodwill and optimism, the ability to make new friends - that's what a hostel is.
If it were not for cheap hotels in Moscow, many people would not be able to show their children the capital, come here for a holiday, an exhibition or just for business. How is a hostel different from a regular hotel?
First, a set of services: it is minimal. Therefore, those who dream of a canopy bed and breakfast in bed should look for other housing options. Champagne and strawberries will not be brought to the room here either. You will have to cook food yourself, for these purposes there is a kitchen and dining room with a refrigerator, stove, microwave and a set of dishes.
Secondly, the number of guests in the room: they can be from two to twelve. Yes, it really resembles a hostel, but it is fun and not boring. The administration takes security seriously. Each tourist is provided not only with a bed, but also a personal closet with a code lock, where you can store personal belongings. Furniture of rooms, however, does not claim to be particularly refined: nothing superfluous, only the most necessary. You don’t have to pay for “beauty.”
Thirdly, the hostels really have an almost homely atmosphere. Here you will not see a strict doorman on the doorstep, and the hall will not overwhelm you with the luxury of marble, pompous crystal chandeliers and gilded finishes. But the staff will treat you politely and kindly, will try to answer all your questions in detail and take into account your wishes.
It should be noted that every year hostels in Moscow - as, indeed, in St. Petersburg - are in great demand. Most of them are located within walking distance from the main attractions, stations and metro stations. There are many cheap hotels in the heart of Moscow. Look into the catalog of hostels on the Internet, and you will see that their addresses speak for themselves: Arbat, Small Ordynka, Tver, Sretenka, Stoleshnikov Lane, etc. Even a tourist who has never been to Moscow will immediately understand that this is not the outskirts of the capital.
The cost of living in a regular hotel includes those services that tourists do not always use. For example, the opportunity to leave the car in a guarded parking lot, visit the spa in the hotel, give things for cleaning and ironing, treat yourself to the contents of the mini-bar in the room. All these advantages in the hostel is not, but almost always there is Internet Wi-Fi. And if you come with your laptop, quality communication with the world is guaranteed.
You need to book a hostel in St. Petersburg and Moscow in advance, especially on pre-holiday days. Groups are almost always given additional discounts.
