Why do you need a green card?
“Green card” is a special international insurance certificate that allows the driver to insure his vehicle against possible damage and losses received as a result of an accident, as well as in circumstances arising from damage to property and life of victims, in the process of operating a vehicle outside the Russian Federation.
Russia became a member of the Green Card international insurance system in early January 2009. Anyone who goes abroad on his own car registered in the territory of the Russian Federation and using it in the territory of a country included in the Green Card system must issue an international insurance certificate "Green Card" and present it when monitoring the implementation of compulsory insurance in accordance with the peculiarities of local legislation. This type of insurance is considered mandatory both in the Russian Federation and in most European countries.

The cost of the Green Card
The price of material payment (insurance compensation) depends on:
Areas of insurance coverage (use of the vehicle);
Time spent in the Green Card country;
Type of vehicle (7 options);
The term of the insurance contract (from 15 days to one year).
It is worth paying attention to the current exchange rate of the ruble against the currencies of the Green Card member countries.
Most often, the minimum insurance period is about two weeks. As an example, the price of a Green Card for a two-week trip by car to the Scandinavian countries will be about 15-20 euros.
Countries in which the Green Card is valid
The “Green Card” is a kind of analogue of the well-known Russian insurance system of OSAGO, the unique difference between the “Green Card” policy and OSAGO is the absence of “attachment” to the driver and the registration of a policy exclusively for the vehicle. According to the rules of insurance "Green card", if the owner of the car is in it, then any driver can take control, even if he is not included in the CTP policy. Thus, after crossing the border of the Russian Federation, several drivers can drive a vehicle.
Use of this policy is allowed only at the border of the participating country, according to the rules of the Green Card system. This system is valid on the border of 48 countries of the world: in most European countries, in a number of countries of North Africa and the Mediterranean. For example: in Bulgaria, Denmark, Israel, Lithuania, Portugal, Turkey, Czech Republic, Estonia. These states have concluded a single agreement among themselves, which simplifies the procedure for material compensation in any state that falls within the “framework” of the Green Card system. On the territory of each country, its own insurance bureau "Green Card" is organized, the main role of which is the payment of insurance compensation to victims of an accident that occurred in the country that organized this bureau.

Disadvantages:
If your fault in an accident is established, then you are deprived of the opportunity to receive insurance payments for the provision of medical care to yourself and the victims, as well as for the repair of your vehicle.
A green card must be issued when entering a foreign country.
Why do you need a green card?
A green card or green card is a practical compulsory insurance policy. Traveling through unfamiliar terrain can sometimes lead to the most undesirable consequences.
If you purchase a Green Card policy, you are entitled to insurance of your liability to car owners of foreign countries, and you no longer need to worry about reimbursing them for losses and damages that may have arisen due to your fault. If you are involved in an accident, and immediately present the “Green Card” to the police officer and participants in the collision, the perpetrator of the accident will be free from cash payments to the victims, and the insurance company that sold the card will be responsible for legal and legal “wastle”. In addition, funds for payments are allocated not only to the car owner, but also to “third parties”, for example, passers-by or cyclists who became involved in an accident. The insurer is also responsible for covering material damage in the event that as a result of an accident there was a collision with a building, tree or structure. However, you should remember that the availability of insurance only allows you to cover the costs of the victims of the accident, but does not relieve you from criminal liability if, in the opinion of the law enforcement system of the state in which the accident occurred, the crime predominates.
