This city combines high culture and social vices. If you see people of non-traditional orientation, you should not be surprised. They walk here as openly as ordinary couples. In this city there is a famous street called Red Lights, where you can offer all sorts of intoxicating food. Amsterdam is famous for its unusual history and a large number of architectural monuments. In addition, it is one of the largest port cities, and thanks to this, the local budget is replenished with large profits. Amsterdam can really surprise you.

If we talk about the climate of this city, it may not be the most ideal. The average temperature in August and July will not be more than 25 degrees, but in winter – will not fall below 0. In addition, Amsterdam is characterized by frequent rain and fog. But do not immediately forget about this city and think that this is not the best place to relax. A little bit of history. Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands. Presumably, it was founded in 1275 by two fishermen, and more specifically, it was a village located on the swamp, which was located on the banks of the river Amstel. Due to the fact that the river overflowed quite often and at the same time flooded many houses, it became necessary to build a dam. This is the name of the city – Amsterdam. Amstel is the name of the river, the pole is the word dam. This city began to develop actively and in the 17th century became the largest trading center and the largest port in the world. Today, Amsterdam is crossed by a system of artificial canals connecting 70 islands and 600 bridges to each other. There is an opinion that Amsterdam in width and number of canals eclipses even Venice.

Now we should focus on some of the attractions. In Amsterdam, on the street of red lights is the church of Oude Kerk, which was built in honor of St. Nicholas. The people believed, and this was their unshakable belief, that this Saint was the patron of the seafarers and sailors, and this in turn greatly helps the city to this day.

You should also visit the National Art Gallery in Amsterdam. Its discovery takes place in 1800. Here you will be offered paintings by Rembrandt and paintings by other famous artists. But if we talk about the New Church, the Royal Palace, the New Commodity Exchange, these are works of architectural art. The same goes for the Red Light Street itself. In fact, its architecture is quite unusual, perhaps because of its location, as it is located in the old part of the city. However, it is known that there are social vices. In this regard, Amsterdam is considered a very contrasting city. It combines culture and something wrong.
