In Yekaterinburg, the annual event “Night of Museums” will be held from 19 to 20 May. The editors of the portal “Personal Guide” talked with Anatoly Kaptur, head of the private Berezovsky Mine Museum.
Tell us about the Berezovsky Mine Museum. Where and who started it?
- Private cultural institution "Museum" Russian Gold "was created thanks to Berezovsky local historian, philanthropist and entrepreneur Valery Anatolyevich Lobanov. Initially, he wanted only to ennoble the city museum, but the municipality decided to transfer it to the balance of the region and Berezovsky was left without his museum.
However, Valery Anatolyevich is not one of those who give up. Today, it is hard to believe, but ten years ago, no one believed in tourism, museums, and the brand of the “homeland of gold”. Instead, delusional and politicized local territorial brands were invented. Valery Anatolyevich did not back down and let no one believe, created such a project, which immediately received the Senkevich Prize, as the most unusual route. At first, the museum huddled in a room 3 by 4 meters, there were no funds, storage facilities, but the main thing was the mine. And then development began.
We organized the first exhibition of contemporary art in Berezovsky "Golden Anatomy of the Mine" came up with and made "Aufest" and brought to the city those performers whom municipalities usually do not notice (the Bach orchestra, settlers, Alexander Bormotov and many others), restored the appearance and pedigree of Brusnitsyn and installed the most decent and interesting monument to Lev Brusnitsyn from the artistic side.

Now the museum is developing under the guidance of the son of Valery Anatolyevich, Evgeny Lobanov, three halls, funds, employees and a huge number of groups. We have received recognition at all levels and even entered the list of museums recommended for import substitution.
And now our trade name is the Mine Museum.
Extreme attraction with riding on a mine in a trolley invented you? Are there any new unexpected activities for visitors?
Of course, I did not invent it, but I modernized it and included it in the text. Now this is not just a ride, but a full part of the program. We are constantly inventing something new. Already now we can offer gold washing on a tray, a forge and a stone-carving workshop, which can be added to the main excursion program of the Museum-Mine.
How did you become a tour guide? Do you have a role model or role model in your profession?
- It was a coincidence. For the first time I took excursions at the first Biennale of Contemporary Art, at the Uralmash and Visa. Walking at the same time couples on tour. I think that this and the fact that before the NCCA did not take the training of their guides so seriously, saved me. You have your own style and experience, which now allows you to prepare your own school of excursions.
How can you describe the style of your tours?
- Entertainment with a strong emphasis on science pop. I try in two or three hours of the tour to captivate people not the most interesting things for a wide audience. Therefore, it is necessary to facilitate and simplify everything, as well as to give the most non-standard comparisons and analogies, so that people do not sleep and are constantly surprised to get involved in the process.
Do you travel a lot? Are there any museums on your trips, which ones do you recommend?
Unfortunately, not as much as I would like. Museums, of course, are present in travel, but some professional deformation makes it difficult to look at museums and other guides objectively. But I certainly would not advise anyone to go to the museum in front of which there is a kilometer queue, I am for saving time.

Are there any analogues to your Berezovsky Mine Museum in the world?
There are many of them, but they can be called analogues with a very large stretch. The museum is a cultural business supported by the state. In our country, a private museum is a hobby, and expensive. Therefore, of course, the scale is not the same as our analogues.
What should museums do to make modern people, full of information and entertainment, come to them with pleasure?
Museums need to learn to tell stories. It sounds simple, but not everyone succeeds.
What program is planned for the action “Night of Museums” 2018?
At Museum Night, we always try to show what we have on any other day. Because it's night once a year, and people come all the time. Therefore, we roll out all the programs that we have so that a person can watch, try, and then on any day he can bring his friends to the same program. And of course, for the second year we have been struggling with queues. This is probably the worst night of museums. Crowds of poorly organized people.
We are for the comfort of visitors, so the number of places on excursions this year is limited and before a trip to us it is better to call and make an appointment. Here's the program: vk.com/wall-77123354 686.
