Moscow

Do I need to carry an internal passport?

Do I need to carry a “domestic” passport when traveling abroad? Nope. No need. If you wish, you can get an internal passport. Better a certified copy.

In fact, a passport is required to cross the border. Perhaps, only if you lose it, you will need an “internal” passport in a foreign country for the speedy registration of proper papers. However, it may be necessary to translate it into the language of the host country and notarize the authenticity of the data.

On the other hand, if you take the original on a trip, you risk losing both documents. Then the procedure for restoring both documents in Russia will turn into a long process. That is why it is recommended to take with you, if you really want, a certified copy of the "internal" passport.

In addition to a copy of the "internal" passport, it is desirable to have copies of all documents for the tour, namely:
• International passports
• Visas
• Health insurance
• Transfer
• Voucher

Make a copy of your driver's license. It is also a document that confirms that you are you. Keep copies and originals separate to reduce the risk of losing all documents.

Although there are people who claim that when crossing the border, they were asked for an “internal” passport. Others keep this document carefully at home and take it with them only on trips to Russia or to institutions where it can be legally asked.

Another situation may arise: you have already gone to the airport, and the car is stopped, asked to present documents.

It is also possible that upon arrival in Russia you will suddenly need to withdraw a large sum. In this case, for example, when applying to Sberbank, you will be asked to present an “internal” passport.

So, here are the situations in which you will need an “internal” Russian passport on vacation:

1. You are traveling in Russia
2. You go to a country with an open visa regime, visiting which is possible with an “internal” passport of the Russian Federation, and this is: Abkhazia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan.
3. You are already going to the airport, anticipating a great holiday, and the car is stopped and asked to present documents.
4. As it turned out, they can ask at the Russian border.
5. Abroad, if you lose your passport, the “internal” passport of the Russian Federation will greatly facilitate the registration of all the appropriate papers for returning home.
6. You have returned to Russia and you urgently need to withdraw a large amount of cash. The bank will ask for an internal passport.

However, directly for travel, all comprehensive information is indicated in the passport. All mandatory marks are placed in it. A railway ticket is again possible to buy a passport.
So calm down, relax. Poison yourself on vacation with a light heart. And a happy journey!
