Steam train trip on a retro train: a successful start of a new project

Travel company Merry trip conceived this project nine years ago, but to implement it was only recently, and the start was more than successful: a trip on a locomotive attracts many comers. This is a unique opportunity to make an extraordinary journey through Moscow, its surroundings and nearby regions, and a real steam locomotive helps to implement it - a kind of retro train that connects the well-forgotten past with the present.

Inside the train is quite comfortable, departs exactly on schedule from one of the Moscow stations and provides an opportunity to avoid terrible traffic jams on the way. It is very convenient to travel in it: the carriage is quite spacious, the legs do not leak from the forced posture, as in the bus cabin, and from the train window you can admire the amazingly beautiful landscapes of the Moscow surroundings passing by. There is also a small cafe in which any passenger can drink tea or coffee for an additional fee. Tourist retro train is perfect for weekend routes.

The directions are very different. There are only nine of them so far: two in the capital, lasting three and six hours, and seven in the suburbs: these tours last one day. The trip begins in the morning, and ends in the evening, the return of the locomotive to the point of the beginning of the journey. Very popular excursions in Kolomna. Tourists arrive here by train, and on the spot transfer to buses.

The obligatory program includes a visit to the city museum of local history, a walk through the territory of the Kolomna Kremlin with an inspection of its protective structures and exhibits of the museum of ancient Russian weapons, which can be held in your hands. Realistically, here also try on armor, learn how to shoot from the archery and master the shooter. After dining in the Kremlin, tourists go to the Golden Hive store, where they can not only buy sweet bee gifts, but also listen to fascinating stories about the life of the apiary. An unforgettable tour of the museum of the Kolomna diesel locomotive plant, where the retro locomotive comes from, quite possibly.

A great impression is also made by an excursion to Sergiev Posad, the capital of Russian Orthodoxy, with a visit to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra and the exposition of ancient Russian church art. It should be remembered that the Lavra is an active male monastery, and here it is necessary to observe a special dress code: decolleted dresses, mini skirts, T-shirts and shorts are prohibited. Women should enter the temple with their heads covered.
