Pet on the way: what you need to know and what documents to prepare when transporting pets
The suitcases are almost packed, you are mentally anticipating your unforgettable and long-awaited journey, when suddenly your gaze falls on a pair of sad eyes of a tailed pet who is also eager to go.
What rules do you need to know when traveling with animals in Russia and abroad? What documents need to be prepared to transport your pet without problems? Where is it forbidden to enter with pets?
Journey through Russia
To travel with animals within our country, you need to prepare a fairly simple package of documents:
Veterinary passport, which must contain information that the animal has passed deworming, and was vaccinated against rabies. Passport your shaggy friend can get in any licensed veterinary clinic. Animals should be vaccinated a month before departure.
It is recommended to carry the pedigree of your pet with you during the trip, but this item is optional. The pedigree is useful in case your pet decides to continue the journey independently (lost) or in case of theft.
Another paper, without which the pet will be problematic to keep company with its owner - a veterinary certificate on the form F-1. It can be obtained at the state veterinary clinic. It is important to know that the period of this document is 5 days from the date of receipt.

Overseas travel
To travel abroad, you should take care of obtaining an international veterinary certificate form 5a. It is filled in the language of the country you are visiting. Be sure to check the correctness of the data.
At the border veterinary control point of the airport, it is also necessary to obtain an annex to the international veterinary certificate form 5a - a European veterinary certificate.
Also, your pet will have to transfer the procedure of implanting a microchip, which, in fact, is an electronic passport of a pet. Do not be afraid, the implantation is painless and your pet will get away with only a slight scare.
The microchip itself is a sterile capsule made of biocompatible glass, which eliminates the movement and rejection of the animal. It enters a chip with a personal fifteen-digit code. It is important to remember that the microchip must comply with international ISO standards, as there may be problems reading information at the airport.

Rules of transportation of tailed (and not only) friends operating outside Russia
If you are going to visit Hungary, your pet will have to transfer the plague vaccination (in addition to the previously mentioned types of vaccinations).
It is forbidden to import animals under 2 months of age into China.
Owners of fighting dogs will have to refuse to travel (or leave their pets at home) to Denmark, France and Italy, as entry there with them is prohibited.
Taking a dog or cat with you to Malta, unfortunately, will not work, because importing them into the territory of this state is not allowed.
If you are going to Lithuania or Estonia, it is important to know that most hotels do not welcome or even prohibit pets.
In Israel, you will not be able to take with you dogs of the following breeds: American and English Staffordshire Terriers, Rottweilers, Filu Brasillero, Argentine Doga, Tosa Inu and Bull Terrier.
If your puppy or kitten has not reached the age of 4 months, you will have to forget about the trip to Egypt.
Norway also prohibits the importation of certain breeds of dogs, including wolves.
Owners of feathered pets will not be able to show them Uruguay, as there is a ban on the import of any birds. But in Saudi Arabia do not like geese, parrots, ducks and pigeons.
If you are 16 years old and you are the owner of one of the following breeds: Pete Bull Terrier, English Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Bulldog, Ulmastiff, Doberman Pinscher, German Shepherd, Ridgeback, Rottweiler, Akita and Tosa Inu, then a trip with your dog to Ireland does not shine for you.

Rules of transportation of animals by plane and train
It is important to know that each airline has certain rules and regulations regarding the transportation of animals (you should check this information on the website of your chosen airline). There are also a number of standard requirements. If your pet weighs less than a certain weight, you can take it to the cabin by placing it in a special container-carrying with a waterproof bottom. If your pet is not a supporter of diets, he will have to fly in the luggage compartment.
Check the airline requirements in advance for your four (or feathered) friend on board. For example, many airlines may refuse to carry birds.
In the train, on account of hand luggage, it is allowed to carry cats and birds placed in special carriers. The same rules for rodents: it is worth buying a special carrier, and make sure that your pet does not cause trouble to other passengers.
As for the transportation of dogs, it is allowed to carry no more than two tailed friends per compartment. A dog ticket is paid at half the cost of an adult ticket if the journey takes place in a 2nd class carriage.
If you travel on trains direct Russian-Finnish railway communication, all pets except dogs and cats will have to leave at home, as these trains transport other animals is prohibited. Dogs can be accommodated in cars of the first and second classes, no more than one pet per passenger.
Have a good trip!
