Online ticket booking systems

Internet technology is rapidly entering our lives. Online services are gaining popularity every day: online communication, online shopping, as well as online booking of tickets. Everyone has heard of these services, but when we need to buy a ticket, we prefer to use the methods we already know and prefer a paper ticket.

Russia’s first e-ticket using ticket booking systems was sold in 2004, and on July 1, 2008, all airlines officially switched to electronic tickets. Paper tickets continue to be used, the largest number is sold at the ticket offices of Russian Railways. This is due to the fact that only 20% of the population use the Internet in Russia (according to Russian sociologists).
To order tickets online, you need to do a few simple steps:
1. Forming a request. The user selects dates, itinerary, cost, number of people, location, and other parameters depending on the type of online booking.
2. Filling out the form with contact and payment information (on some sites the information is entered in several stages). Here, the user is usually asked to fill in the following fields: name, passport data, phone, e-mail, type of bank card, card number, name of the card holder.
3. Making payments. Usually, when passing a payment, money is first blocked on the user’s card, and then, subject to confirmation of the correctness of all data, is written off.
4. Obtaining a document confirming the booking. The customer receives an electronic ticket of the established sample on the successful completion of the reservation, which guarantees him the provision of services.
Despite the fact that booking systems in Russia are relatively short-lived, now they are gaining popularity.
An e-ticket has an advantage over a paper ticket as it is cheaper. The ticket must be issued on a special form, which is equipped with means of protection against counterfeiting (for example, paper with watermarks) also a paper ticket must be serviced: copy information to other media, dispose of the ticket itself, take into account and store tickets according to certain rules. It is reported that the cost of airlines reached 10 dollars for each ticket. Unlike a paper ticket, an electronic ticket is a set of records in databases given by various computer systems. It means that it does not require paper costs and, thanks to non-cash payment, it practically does not require maintenance costs, respectively, it is cheaper. Online booking saves not only your money but also your time, it virtually eliminates the human factor and provides you with the latest information.

The disadvantage of online booking is the personal distrust of everyone in the reliability of electronic systems. This disadvantage is quite controversial, since all electronic systems of purchases and booking tickets have the protection provided by companies providing services. There are many sites and resources where you can book tickets, but to avoid fraud when ordering online, you need to use proven Internet resources, such as the official website of Russian Railways or the websites of individual airlines (avianova.ru, skyexpress.ru and others). You can also book tickets through payment terminals (e.g. QIWI). The booking scheme is somewhat different, but generally simple and clear. Another way: order a ticket online, and buy it from the travel agency.

Most often, online booking of tickets is used by people who fly or travel a lot. Having once appreciated the convenience of electronic tickets, rarely anyone wants to go back to paper tickets. Online booking of rail and air tickets is much more convenient and faster than buying a paper ticket.
