Event and gastronomic tourism in Russia

Event tourism began to develop in Russia not so long ago. Accordingly, there are not too many events that can attract tourists to Russia. But they will appear in the near future, as this task is set to the tourist authorities of the regions. In any case, any host company in Russia can organize a trip to a particular event. But you have to take care of it in advance. Among the events that attract tourists to Russia are major international sports competitions (Kremlin Tennis Cup, hockey tournaments and football matches, Sports Festival of the North in the Murmansk region), cultural events - Moscow International Film Festival, ethnic holidays (Yasakh summer holiday, weeks of culture and art of different countries or peoples) and religious (Russian Maslenitsa in Moscow).

One of the powerful events was the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the founding of St. Petersburg in late May 2003. Jubilee celebrations in different cities still attract visitors not only from Russia, but also from abroad. For the participants of World War II all over the world, the reason for trips to Russia is May 9 - the day of the end of the war. In recent years, relatives of the dead and surviving soldiers from Germany have been able to visit the graves of their loved ones and friends in Russia. Attractive events for Russians take place in the summer in the southern cities of the country. These are carnivals - the opening of the holiday season in Gelendzhik and Anapa, music and film festivals, etc.

Gradually developing and such an independent type of tourism as pilgrimage. The reason for its development is often events that are significant for secular society. Each of the centers of Russian spirituality - monasteries near Kaluga, on Valaam and Solovki, in the Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod regions - has its own memorable dates when it is customary to visit them.

Gastronomic tours aim to study the features of the cuisine of a particular country. In Russia, this type of tourism is still in its infancy, and there are no such tours in their pure form, so the elements of gastronomic tours are included in the main programs. Acquaintance with Russian cuisine takes place during a visit to the best national restaurants of the country, where Russian traditions of eating, cooking and serving dishes are strictly observed. In some regions, in particular in the Yaroslavl region, programs such as "Lunch in the Russian hut" are offered. They are organized in a real village house, the owners of which receive guests in accordance with Russian bakery traditions. The hostess herself bakes bread in the oven, takes out rotten salt from the cellar, cooks cast iron potatoes from her garden, cuts and bakes a piglet ... A valuable advantage of such a gastronomic tour is the ecological purity of the products used. Popular among tourists and visits to wineries and vodka productions with tasting. Excursions to wineries are especially common in the Krasnodar Territory, where grapes of both local and European varieties are widely grown.
