Independence Day of Azerbaijan

Flag of AzerbaijanOctober 18 - Day of State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan. On August 30, 1991, at an extraordinary session of the Supreme Council of Azerbaijan, the Declaration on the Restoration of the State Independence of the Republic was adopted.

The Supreme Council of the Azerbaijan Republic, guided by the highest state interests of the people of Azerbaijan and expressing its will, noting that from 1918 to 1920 the Azerbaijan Republic existed as an independent state recognized by the international community, based on the Constitution of the Azerbaijan Republic, the Constitutional Laws on the sovereignty of the Azerbaijan Republic and the foundations of the economic independence of the Azerbaijan Republic, recognizing its responsibility for the fate and ensuring the free development of the people of Azerbaijan, guaranteeing the rights and fundamental freedoms of all citizens of the Azerbaijan Republic regardless of nationality and religion, seeking to prevent a threat to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Azerbaijan Republic, the leadership of the international organizations, recognizing the necessity of the international independence of Azerbaijan in accordance with the international conventions of the Republic, recognizing the international rights of Azerbaijan Republic and the international rights of Azerbaijan Republic, and the international organizations of Azerbaijan, and the necessity to maintain the international rights of the international organizations of the Republic of the Republic of the Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan as well as the Republic of Azerbaijan, recognizing the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Azerbaijan as well as non-states of the international law, the international law, the international peace and other states,

At the same time, a resolution of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On the restoration of state independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan” was adopted.

Pursuant to this decision, based on the Declaration of Independence adopted by the National Council of Azerbaijan on May 28, 1918, and guided by the Declaration of the Supreme Council of Azerbaijan on the Restoration of Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated August 30, 1991, the Supreme Council of Azerbaijan on October 18, 1991 adopted the Constitutional Act on State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan and established the foundations of the state, political and economic structure of the independent Azerbaijan Republic.

Since then, Azerbaijan has gained state independence, and October 18 became a holiday of national independence.
