Day of Solidarity of Azerbaijanis around the world
Description:
It should be noted that this day was first declared on December 16, 1991 by the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, while still being the Chairman of the Supreme Majilis of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, after which this date became a national holiday of the entire Azerbaijani people.
Several tens of millions of Azerbaijanis live in the world, not only in their homeland, but also in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Turkey, CIS countries, Germany, France, Great Britain, Scandinavian countries, the United States of America and the countries of the Middle East. But the largest Azerbaijani diaspora - about 2 million - lives in Russia.
The main idea of the Day of National Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis, as President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev noted in his address to his compatriots, is the Unity and Solidarity of Azerbaijanis of the world, the statehood of Azerbaijan, respect for the national and spiritual values of our people, feelings and ideas associated with belonging to the Azerbaijani people, attachment to the historical homeland.
