Knowledge Day in Azerbaijan

Knowledge DayIn order to improve the working regime in the educational institutions of the Republic of Azerbaijan in connection with the creation of an effective system of activities serving to improve the quality of education in these educational institutions, the President of Azerbaijan decided:

1. Classes in all educational institutions of the Republic of Azerbaijan begin on September 15.

2. Declare September 15 as Knowledge Day.

3. Starting from the 2004/2005 academic year, a five-day school week will be introduced in grades I-IV of general education schools of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

4. The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, together with the relevant executive authorities, shall prepare and submit proposals to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan within six months to ensure the transition of all general education schools to a five-day school week.

5. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan shall resolve the issues arising from this Decree.
