Hosmas Museum

Rishon LeTsiyon, Israel

About the company:

The Hosmas Museum details the history of the Holon defense during the Battle of Israeli Independence. The museum building is located west of Karyat Sharet in sand dunes – it was here that the members of the Haganah of Tel Aviv learned to defend their homeland. There is also an ancient well that served as a water supply, as well as a cache with weapons.

The museum building was built in the Bauhaus style in 1934. Initially, a guard lived there with his family. The observation tower of the building served to transmit communication signals in Morse code using semaphore and heliographs. The museum was officially opened in October 2009.

The exposition of the museum shows some types of weapons and secret places for their storage, as well as tells about the organization of the Haganah in Holon, clandestine activities, training, and the important role of this period in the creation of the State of Israel.
