On June 22, the shortest summer night, Nikola-Lenivets will host the second festival “Night of New Media”.

Many European peoples have a custom to celebrate the summer solstice with a fun night festival, in the final of which guests meet the dawn together. In the art park "Nikola-Lenivets" on this shortest summer night you can see and hear the works of new-media artists, performers, musicians.

The main venue of the festival will be a large-scale installation of Nikolai Polissky “Universal Mind”. The composition consists of 42 rockets 9 meters high, surrounding a giant wooden mechanical brain. This large-scale monument to artificial intelligence will house a unique interactive installation “Forty Two” from the project of Dmitry Morozov, consisting of more than 500 light devices and 24 audio channels. Hiddenly integrated into the Universal Mind, it is an autonomous generative sound object, with the help of which each viewer can enter into interactive interaction with the Universal Mind, receiving a unique audio light series as a reaction. Multimedia installation will work all weekend of summer.

On the night of the festival, famous German musicians will present their performances here: the legendary ATOMTM and the experimental duo Diamond Version, who will come to Nikola-Lenivets immediately after performing at the Depeche Mode concert. One of the members of the duo is Alva Noto, an artist and musician experimenting in different styles of electronic music (glitch, clicks'n'cuts, microwave) and creating audio pictures from various cracks and interference, similar to the barely audible background of technical and electronic noise. The program will continue with German musician and DJ Jan Jelinek, working in the genres of minimal techno, glitch, microhouse, ambient, IDM and also performing under the names Farben, Gramm and The Exposures. His sets are loved for their deep sound and witty use of quotes from early jazz and rock. And the afterhours set will be played by Abelle, a DJ resident and one of the ideologists of the Arma17 nightclub. She likes to perform long sets, which serve as a perfect accompaniment to the first minutes of the day.

The second center of the festival will be the “Mayak” – an 18-meter tower with an observation deck, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and the Ugra River, whose high bank will turn into a spectator amphitheater. Around the “Mayak” will unfold a large-scale multimedia performance by Vita Adlerberg “In the ray of light”. The synthesis of modern choreography, experimental electronic music and light scenography will change the usual reality and fill the surrounding landscape with new meaning.

The two main venues of the festival will be connected by a kilometer-long trail along which light installations will be placed.
