400 thousand balls in the fight against ultraviolet radiation

Back in 2007, the Department of Water Protection of Los Angeles, USA determined that the Ivanhoe reservoir excessively exceeded the level of dangerous carcinogens formed when exposed to sunlight.

To combat this phenomenon, it was decided to pour 400,000 black plastic balls onto the surface of the water, which will absorb ultraviolet radiation. The experiment is expected to be completed by 2012.
