The first groups on the Yamal route will go to Yamal in March. The edge of a thousand deer.

In Kazan on February 19, the tourist route of the weekend “Yamal” was presented. The edge of a thousand deer. Z. Makhmutova, director of Discover Yamal LLC, says that the races on the new route will start on March 1, 2019, and the first travelers are guests from Tatarstan.

The route “Yamal: The Edge of a Thousand Deer” will begin at the crossing of the Arctic Circle, where tourists will receive personalized certificates.

The program includes a trip to the Obdorsky prison, an excursion to the Yamalo-Nenets District Museum and Exhibition Complex named after I.S. Shemanovsky, there is a famous exhibit - the mammoth Lyuba.

The trip is designed for 4 days, the cost of the tour is 19 900 rubles per person (groups from 5 tourists). The price includes flight, transfer, accommodation in a 4* hotel, overnight stays in the plague, excursions, tickets to museums, guide services.

“This is absolutely exotic for quite affordable money,” says Maya Lomidze, executive director of the Association of Tour Operators (ATOR), who visited the route as an expert. According to her, the price will be available for tourists from Kazan and Moscow.

Yamal will interest travelers who love “Russian exoticism”: it can take a worthy place in the same row with Baikal or the beauty of the Russian North. In the Arctic zone you can see amazing weather, natural and space phenomena.

Despite the remoteness of Yamal from Europe, tours to the "edge of a thousand reindeer" may interest foreigners.

Raiko Ruzicka, head of the Croatian tourist office in Russia, travelled along the Yamal route in 2018: Yamal is stunning nature, and the Nenets are a very hospitable people. Anyone looking for exotic tourism will be delighted. Of course, there are no direct flights to Salekhard for foreign tourists, you can get there from anywhere in Europe only through connections in Moscow and St. Petersburg, so this moment should be very well organized.

Foreign guests will appreciate the “northern bonuses”: a chance to admire the aurora and taste exotic dishes: stroganine from northern fish, venison, fruit from northern berries.

To promote the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in Russia and abroad, it is necessary to work out the pricing issue with local tour operators, food facilities and accommodation to reduce prices, and plan new routes.
