Anapa opens beaches: swimming season starts on June 1
From 1 June to Anape The beaches will be officially opened - the corresponding decree has already been signed by the local authorities.
This is an important event for the resort, which is recovering from a serious environmental impact: in December 2024, a large oil spill occurred in the Black Sea due to the accident of two tankers in the Kerch Strait. Oil products reached the coast of Anapa, causing widespread pollution. In the region, an emergency regime was introduced, and in the spring of 2025, the beach area was completely closed for swimming: 141 sandy and 9 pebble beaches of Anapa and Temryuk district did not meet sanitary standards.
Now on pebble and part of the sandy beaches excluded from the emergency zone, the infrastructure is being actively equipped:
install sun loungers and canopies;
mounting rescue towers;
spray the beach line with clean sand (the height of the new layer is at least half a meter).
The work has already shown its effectiveness - for example, on the beaches of Vityazevo, the sprinkling experiment was successful.
Rospotrebnadzor confirmed that the beaches of the resort meet sanitary requirements: experts have not identified deviations from the norms in coastal waters. Throughout the tourist season, monitoring of sea water and the state of sandy beaches will continue.
The 2026 swimming season at the public water bodies of Anapa will last until September 30.
Experts of the tourist market expect that the news about the opening of the beaches will cause an increase in interest in the destination. Tour sales are forecast to increase by about 40% compared to last week.
President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry Ilya Umansky called the opening of beaches long-awaited news. He stressed the key role of Anapa in Russian tourism:
Anapa is one of the key resorts in Russia, and for Anapa itself, tourism is the basis of the economy. The industry employs about 30 thousand people, taking into account related areas – up to 180 thousand with a population of about 220 thousand.
Umansky recalled that last holiday season was extremely difficult:
Demand for rest decreased by almost 70%;
occupancy rates even during peak season did not exceed 46%;
The industry ended the year with losses.
