The airline “Victory” proposes to introduce a paid registration for the flight
The airline “Victory”, the only low-cost airline in Russia, the “daughter” of the carrier “Aeroflot” (a company with mainly state participation) puts forward a new proposal.
The management of the low-cost airline requires that air carriers have the right to charge a check-in fee for a flight at the airport. The head of “Victory” Andrei Kalmykov believes that this will reduce the cost of flights.
Carriers rent counters at the airport, and regardless of the passenger's registration, these costs are included in the cost of his ticket (about 200 rubles, according to the calculations of "Victory").
The airline believes that it would be fair to charge those who actually use the check-in service at the airport – then the ticket for the rest will be cheaper. We are confident that 90% of people will sign up online and save money. We will immediately deduct this fee from the ticket price as soon as we receive permission, the company says and advises to estimate the registration service at 1000 rubles.
If these 200 rubles are now included in the ticket price of 100 passengers, the total amount of the “stand fee” will be 20 thousand rubles per flight. Reducing the number of citizens registering at the airport will reduce the number of rented counters by half.
In foreign airports of its presence, Pobeda has already introduced check-in fees of 25 euros, five euros less than, for example, WizzAir (Hungary), which is known for low flight prices and wild fees for any action beyond the minimum set of services. Currently, 83% of passengers prefer to register online. In Russia, this figure was 32% last year; another 15% used self-registration counters. Incentives can change things quickly.
