Moscow-Cairo flights restored

EgyptAir will make its first flight to Moscow on April 12.

 

Cairo airport has a special exit (Gate), it is designed only for flights to Moscow. In addition, eight specialists from the Russian Federation will monitor aviation security measures.

 

Ihab Vahdan, General Director of the Tez Tour branch in Egypt, reports that dozens of tourists from Russia fly on the first Moscow-Cairo flight after a 2.5-year break, they are going to rest on the Red Sea.

 

“Our company employs about thirty people. That's six families. From the airport where our representative will meet them, a transfer to Hurghada will be carried out by car. They will be accompanied by the police on the road”.

 

Ihab Vahdan expects an increase in tourist flow for the holidays in May, for these days more than two hundred tourist tours have been sold. The representative of Tez Tour believes that it is too early to dream about big sales, because people are just coming back. In any case, we are not counting on big sales yet, since there are only a few direct flights a week, and diplomats, businessmen, and other citizens fly to Cairo in addition to tourists, so there are not enough tickets for everyone.

 

In 2015, Egypt-Russia flights were interrupted after the Kogalymavia plane crashed over Sinai, which was flying on the route Sharm el-Sheikh - St. Petersburg. The FSB recognized the incident as a terrorist attack. The decision to open direct flights Russia-Egypt was preceded by serious work to strengthen security measures in the air harbors of Egypt.

 

Egyptian Ambassador to Russia Ihab Nasr said earlier that negotiations on the opening of flights between Russian cities and resorts of Egypt can begin after the resumption of air traffic Moscow - Cairo.
