No U.S. visa?
Negotiations between Russia and the United States on the abolition of the visa regime are continuing. Today, the countries are considering two options for developing cooperation in this direction: the complete abolition of visas or the simplification of procedures for obtaining them.
Konstantin Kosachev, the head of the international committee of the state Duma, argues that despite the fact that even the thought itself seems to many something from the field of fiction, it is quite real and feasible. He spoke about this opportunity at the annual conference “World Russian Forum”, held in Washington.
To work in this direction, it is proposed to use the experience gained during the dialogue with the European Union on this issue. According to the head of the Committee, the European Union is much more afraid of uncontrolled migration from Russia than the United States. Today’s Russia is a non-Soviet Union, which once in every possible way prevented the departure of its citizens abroad and the entry of representatives of other states. But the Russian side, again, is ready for all actions on the issues of changing the visa regime only on condition of mutual work on this issue.
For the first time on the possibility of a real visa-free regime between USA And Russia spoke only after Vladimir Putin met with US Vice President Dzosef Biden in early March. As a first step, Moscow proposed to sign visa-free travel agreements with the United States for up to 90 days.
