The Big American Journey: A Cat Who Traveled the Country for Five Years
UPI, news agency USA A cat has been found in New Mexico that went missing in Oregon five years ago.
In the animal shelter Santa Fe reported that a black cat named Sasha was found on one of the streets of the city. Thanks to the microchip, animal rights activists were able to locate the beast. He was in Portland, about 2,000 kilometers from where he was found.
Sasha's owner, Viktor Usov, said he was shocked when he was informed of the find from the shelter. "I couldn't believe it! We have already come to terms with the loss and are very happy to learn that the cat is alive and well.”
Victor added that Sasha "has made a great American trip." The shelter emphasizes the importance of pet chipping: a capsule with a chip the size of a rice seed, which is sewn under the skin of a pet, will help to find it even after a few years.
One of the largest airlines in the United States offered to take the pet home, to the owners.
