The Japanese construction company Shimizu Corporation has developed the Environmental Island project, which involves the construction of a “city of the future”. In the view of the Japanese, it is an artificial island with a diameter of three kilometers. In the center of such a city is a giant skyscraper. The project states that there will be many such islands, and water transport will run between them. Skyscrapers in the center of the island will reach a kilometer in height. They can accommodate industrial and office space and even farms for growing crops, and on the upper floors of the building can live up to 30 thousand people. Energy supply for skyscrapers will be solar panels, wind, thermal installations.
