What are the dangers of smartphones on the plane?

British newspaper The Sun reports about the potential danger that passengers can face if they drop their mobile phone behind the seat in the cabin.

When a smartphone falls behind a chair, it can break if the seat moves. In this case, it will result in damage to the lithium battery, which will result in a fire, said the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

All travellers will be warned to notify the flight attendant immediately if they drop their phone under the seat. This is due to the last case when the smartphone of a passenger flying on the airline Qantas fell under the chair and caught fire. As a result, the pilot turned the plane around and urgently landed it in Sydney to escape the fire.

In August, passengers who were departing from Barcelona urgently left the plane after an explosion aboard a portable charger. The incident happened on the plane of Ryanair. The charger caught fire when it was connected to the phone of one of the passengers.
