Montenegro tightens entry rules
Montenegro has tightened entry rules and the new rules will come into force on August 21.
Director of the Institute of Public Health of the country Igor Galich said that arriving tourists need to have one of three documents to choose from:
- Certificate of vaccination with one or two doses of COVID-19 (Satellite V recognized)
- negative PCR test no older than 72 hours
- flash-test
- Certificate of transferred disease COVID-19
Entry from Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia remained free of these conditions. However, these exemptions apply only to citizens of Montenegro and residents of these countries.
The entry of tourists from third countries through these countries without certificates from August 21 is not possible.
Tourists from Russia get to Montenegro through Serbia and Albania, as well as Croatia and Macedonia, Turkey (Istanbul), Hungary. And almost all of these countries already have similar conditions to the new rules of entry into Montenegro (with the exception of Albania and transit through Istanbul without access to the city).
In June 2021, 2,778 Russians stayed in hotels in the country. Probably, taking into account those Russians who stayed in apartments and private apartments, the total number of Russian tourists in June may reach 9 thousand.
In 2019, the country was visited by 384,689 tourists from Russia, in 2020 - 38,757. Thus, the tourist flow from Russia in 2020 decreased by 10 times.
