What is stopping Russians from traveling to Europe?

Aviasales experts have found out what stops Russians from traveling to the European Union, since most of our compatriots prefer not tours to Europe, but travel around Russia.

67% of bookings are for domestic flights, and only 11% are for Schengen countries.

The first place among the fears is finance, since the average cost of a round trip flight inside the country is 11.5 thousand rubles, and to the Schengen countries - 18.5 thousand rubles.

Russians complain about the high cost of obtaining a Schengen visa and its short duration. Most respondents dream of obtaining a visa for at least five years, and get a visa for six months.

Travelers are also not happy with the high prices for rest and crowds of tourists on popular beaches and in European capitals.

Another reason for the refusal of Russians to travel to the Schengen area is the collection of numerous documents. Difficulties arise with the registration of a certificate from work, bank statement and advance reservation of the hotel.

Embassies and visa centers of European countries are open only in major cities of Russia, so tourists have to travel to Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities to submit documents.
