Divers will have a place to turn

Perhaps soon lovers of diving will discover a new direction - Colombia. This country has coasts on two oceans – Atlantic and Pacific – and they are perfect for this sport.

According to the Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism of Colombia Sergio Diaz-Granados, the development of diving tourism will contribute to an increase in tourist flow in the country and a significant replenishment of the treasury.

After all, diving is one of the fastest growing areas of tourism in the world. The annual turnover of this type of recreation, for example, in the Caribbean region exceeds a billion dollars. And Colombia, according to the Minister, it is time to start actively participating in this process.

Colombia has excellent natural opportunities for this. There are already several corresponding centers on the Colombian coasts: Santa Marta and the Rosario and San Bernardo archipelagos. And yet, the country does not occupy a special niche in the world market. Colombia's tourism ministry plans to fix this once it finds funding sources.

Last year, 2.8 million people visited Colombia. The most popular tourist destinations are the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta National Park, the city of Cartagena, located on the Caribbean coast, the Gold Museum in Bogotá, the San Andres archipelago and coffee plantations.
