World Happiness Report 2021: The most prosperous countries are named
Independent experts based on data from Gallup and other organizations prepared an annual ranking of the happiest countries in the world.
Life satisfaction around the world was affected by the pandemic, and the importance of different factors of happiness has changed: for example, the impact of income has decreased, and the benefits of living in a couple compared to loneliness have increased.
The happiest countries in the world:
1. Finland
2. Iceland
3. Denmark
4. Switzerland
5. Netherlands
6. Sweden
7. Germany
8. Norway
9. New Zealand
10. Austria
Finland is a top leader not for the first year. The United States ranks 14th, the United Kingdom 18th, and France closes the second ten. China is 52nd and Russia is 60th.
Trust and the ability to count on others, especially in the face of crises, are even more important to happiness than income levels, unemployment and serious health risks. Physical distancing and self-isolation pose a serious challenge to the social connections that happiness requires.
The report says that due to the pandemic in many countries of the world there was a sharp deterioration in mental health.
The International Day of Happiness is celebrated on March 20.
