On April 27, in support of the Program for the Development of Mass Voluntary Blood Donation and its Components of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and the FMBA of Russia, at the initiative of LG Electronics, the Donor Day was held in Volgograd as part of the donor marathon “70 Years of Victory”. LG’s Good Deeds initiative was supported by UTair and LG’s long-term partner in consumer electronics and social projects, Eldorado. Volgograd became the fifth final city of the marathon, where the organizers of the marathon arrived by train. Prior to that, the project group visited Smolensk, St. Petersburg, Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don. More than 120 donors took part in the Donor Day in Volgograd. The action was opened by the Olympic champion in high jump, two-time world champion, LG Ambassador of Good Deeds Elena Slesarenko.

The donor marathon “70 Years of Victory” was developed with the aim of implementing good deeds and noble mission, as well as promoting such an important topic as social responsibility of business and uniting the largest companies for the development of corporate donation.

The fifth city of the donor marathon “70 years of Victory” was Volgograd, a hero city known for the most epochal battle of the XX century. The events that took place here from 17 July 1942 to 2 February 1943 changed the course of world history. It was here, on the banks of the Volga River, that the main German military forces were broken. The military-political significance of the victory at Stalingrad was highly appreciated by the military-political leadership of the country and on May 1, 1945, Stalingrad was awarded the honorary title of “Hero City”.

Marathon Donor Day was held with the support of the State State Health Institution “Volgograd Regional Blood Center”. Elena Slesarenko, LG Good Deeds Ambassador, who took part in the event, commented on the event: “It is a great honor for me to take part again in the Donor’s Day and donate blood as part of the donor marathon “70 Years of Victory”. I am glad that corporate donation is developing in Russia today. For the second year in a row, the joint donor marathons of LG, Eldorado and UTair are a vivid example and a kind of beacon for business to implement corporate social responsibility programs in the field of blood donation.

Also within the framework of the marathon events on April 27, Volgograd State University hosted a lecture by Tatiana Shakhnes, Director of Public Relations of LG in Russia, a member of the Coordination Council for Donation under the OP of the Russian Federation, as well as a representative of the partner company Oksana Kritikova, head of the internal communications and social projects department “Eldorado” on the importance of corporate volunteering.
