Dublin recognized as a city of literature

The Irish capital of UNESCO was awarded the title of “City of Literature”. So far, only three cities in Melbourne, Edinburgh and Iowa City have received this honorary title. For the award of this title, not only the cultural past of the country was assessed, but the presence of publishing houses, printing houses, bookstores, educational institutions, the organization of literary festivals and the reading level of the population. Mary Hanafin, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport in Ireland, considers this award well deserved, as Dublin is known not only for its many attractions, but also for the famous writers who lived and worked there.
