Yekaterinburg travel agencies and tour operators entered the “register of reliability”
In Russia earned a single mandatory register of travel agencies and tour operators, they can check the reliability of the company, which you are going to entrust your vacation. They published on the website of the Association "Tourist Help". You need to choose your city and type the name of the company or select it from the list. At the moment, 321 travel agencies and 18 tour operators from Yekaterinburg are registered in the register.
Previously, travel agencies were not subject to certification or licensing, it was enough to register any enterprise of any form and issue a contract with a tour operator. This led to the fact that there were many unqualified people on the market, explained Mikhail Maltsev, head of the Ural Tourism Association. Now a single mandatory register of travel agencies is being introduced, and everyone can and should look at whether there is a travel agency in this register. As for the operator part, the new amendments increase the financial burden for them and create a personal liability fund.
Innovations, according to the expert, should protect tourists, but for tour operators it is an additional cost.
Although the law came into force on January 1, tour operators were given a month to put everything in order. Those who did not have time to do this will be excluded from the register, and they will not be able to conduct activities, said Mikhail Maltsev. Our Yekaterinburg tour operators and travel agencies show a good result, most of them were included in this register. But there are those who did not have time to get there or did not want to be there.
Tour operators included in the register make contributions and create personal liability funds to compensate tourists for damage in case of non-fulfillment of the terms of the contract. And the presence in the register of a travel agency gives a guarantee that it works in the market in good faith, has a contract with a tour operator.
On January 1, amendments to the Tourism Law came into force. It was about creating a personal liability fund for tour operators, to which companies had to transfer contributions until January 31 inclusive. In order to remain in the unified register and continue working in the outbound tourism market, each tour operator must pay 1% of the total price of the total tourist product sold for the previous year. This money in the event of a “collapse” will be used to pay the injured tourists.
According to the latest data, 566 Russian tour operators specializing in outbound tourism paid the money.
