Experts and the foreign Ministry spoke about the idea of Turkey to abandon passports

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT) and lawyers are skeptical of Turkey’s idea of mutual refusal of passports for tourist trips.

The official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that the Russian side considers this idea difficult to implement. This is due to the fact that the Russian internal passport under the law can only be used on the territory of the Russian Federation. The exception is a few countries that have a high level of integration with Russia.

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs drew attention to the fact that all information in passports is presented exclusively in Russian, which will add problems to the Turkish border guards and may cause problems. Also, it is impossible to put unauthorized marks in internal passports, for example, about crossing the border. “We see no problem in the use of foreign passports. In recent years, their design has been greatly simplified.”

The same point of view is given by a member of the Board of PCT, head of the law firm Persona Grata G. Mokhov. Turkey may be allowed to enter the country on Russian passports, but I doubt that you can travel from Russia with a Russian passport. Turkey is doing this on a wave of enthusiasm ahead of the upcoming tourist season.”

In his opinion, the initiative resembles a marketing move by Turkey to show its hospitality.

The absence of difficulties with obtaining a passport says the press Secretary of the PCT Irina Tyurina. She notes that now you can get abroad almost without leaving home. “Those who can afford to travel abroad have long held foreign passports,” he said.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevluta Cavusoglu said at the beginning of the week that he was waiting for an early meeting in Antalya with Sergey Lavrov and was going to discuss the refusal of passports for tourists.
