Experts advise tourists not to buy currency

Financial analysts advise residents of the Russian Federation, who booked a trip to Europe for the holidays in early may, do not rush to buy currency.

Experts believe that the fall of the ruble is not quite adequate to the current events in the stock markets. In the near future, the exchange rate of the national currency may return to its previous positions.

Petr Pushkarev, Chief Analyst of TeleTrade Group, is sure that the fall of the ruble is an emotional phenomenon, everything will soon recover. One can assume that the current peaks – or final and higher exchange rates will not be. Or they can be updated before the end of the week by another ruble-and-a-half maximum.” He predicts that the euro may fall to 74 rubles, and the dollar – to 60.

At the same time, some financial advisers advise Russians to hedge risks: divide the amount that was supposed to be spent at the resort into equal parts, and change them gradually - pause for one or two days. There are other opinions.

Sergey Drozdov, analyst of GC FINAM: People are more likely to lose more time and nerves. Are they worth it? This approach is unlikely to minimize the risks. In most cases, tourists do not take with them more than 1-2 thousand euros or dollars. Consequently, their possible losses during exchange rate jumps are estimated at several thousand rubles.”

The Central Bank of the Russian Federation set the official euro exchange rate on April 12 at the level of 79.28 rubles, the dollar rate is 64.06 rubles. During the day, the European currency became more expensive by 2.43 rubles, the American - by 1.69 rubles.
