Hermitage recognized as the best museum in Europe
St. Petersburg State Hermitage Museum entered the top three best museums in the world according to the TripAdvisor resource, second only to the Metropolitan Museum in New York and the gallery of the Chicago Institute of Arts. The Hermitage is also the only Russian museum to enter the top 25.
The Hermitage Museum has thus become the best museum in Russia and Europe, repeating its success 200 years ago. Tourists liked the St. Petersburg heritage more than the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, the National Anthropological Museum in Mexico City, the 9/11 Memorial in New York, the Spanish Prado, the British Museum, the New Acropolis Museum in Athens and the Vase Museum in Stockholm.
It is noteworthy that the Louvre, the Florentine Ufizzi Gallery and the Van Gogh Museum were not even in the top ten.
In the Russian rating, Tretyakovka was placed in second place, Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve was placed in third place, followed by Peterhof, and the Grand Maquette “Russia” in St. Petersburg closes the top five, showing visitors the whole country in miniature.
Earlier, St. Petersburg defended the title of the best tourist destination in Europe according to the World Travel Awards.
