Will the format of inbound tourism change? How will foreigners come to Russia?

Barcelona hosted the international tourism exhibition IBTM World, which was attended by domestic tour operators.

At the Moscow stand, leading tour operators engaged in the field of inbound tourism worked.

Director of “Tari Tour” M. Levchenko: “Interest to travel to Russia remains. Our partners are waiting for the opening of Russian borders and the launch of an electronic visa. Foreign colleagues are optimistic about the summer season of 2022. Most hope that in the summer of 2022 they will be able to send their tourists to Russia.

Director of the Intourist entry unit A. Balashova noted that at IBTM World Barcelona, European tour operators were interested in the possibility of visiting Russia on an electronic visa (we will remind, this mechanism is still suspended due to the pandemic), asked about health protocols.

International tour operators are concerned about the recognition of vaccination certificates: in this case, their customers will be able to visit museums and theaters in Russia. Foreigners vaccinated with foreign COVID-19 drugs do not have this option (or you need to do PCR tests every 48 hours).

Foreigners are still interested in Russian classics – trips to Moscow and St. Petersburg.

According to tour operators operating in the inbound tourism market, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the format of travel, so the restoration of inbound tourism to the pre-pandemic level will not be rapid.

“Due to current restrictions, group inbound tourism as it was before the pandemic could begin to die out.”

“We understand that the whole market of turim is changing. It is clear that there will be no large groups. Now they will be small groups. All participants of the inbound market will have to work in a new reality, said Marina Levchenko.
