Where will the resort for the richest travelers on the planet be built?
Saudi Arabia officially announced the third mega-project in South Sinai, where next to the huge “city of the future” Neom, and a mega-resort on 50 Red Sea islands in the northeastern region of the Kingdom, will build another fashionable tourist cluster Amaala.
The Saudi Arabian Investment Fund (PIF) says Amaala will be “a natural extension of the Mediterranean Sea,” the “Riviera of the Middle East,” and will offer the “2.5 million richest tourists in the world” a full range of services that is nowhere possible.
What entertainment is planned? Golf and yachting all year round, “boutique cruises” on the Red Sea, diving tours to coral reefs, concerts of world stars and sports events, shopping, art galleries and an art academy, treatment and SPA. Hotels and private villas are promised "extraordinary architecture and unprecedented luxury." About 22,000 guests will be served.
The construction of Amaala will begin in early 2019, the first stage will be commissioned at the end of 2020, the project is going to be completed in 2028. The total amount of investment in the mega-project is unknown: in the first stage, it will be PIF funds. Amaala will be built by private investors.
Amaala will be the last major project to “create a full-fledged tourism industry in Saudi Arabia.”
Foreign visitors will enter Amaala, as well as the Special Tourist Zone of the 50 Red Sea Islands, under simplified rules. Saudi Arabia has taken the first steps to ease the visa regime: from December 2018, the issuance of electronic visas to foreign travelers traveling to the Kingdom for sports and cultural events will begin.
