Cities to visit in 2020: New European Capitals of Culture

In February, the ceremony of transferring titles to the new cultural capitals of 2020 will be held.

Next year, Riek and Galway will win the title.

Rijeka is the third largest cityCroatiaIt is a major passenger and cargo port of the Adriatic Sea. For the European Capital of Culture, Rijeka has the motto “Port of Diversity”.

Galway (1484) is located in Ireland. Galway this year will focus on migration, language and landscape. The city chose the slogan "Let the magic in."

European Capitals of Culture have been chosen since 1985. In 2019, the title of cultural capitals was held by Plovdiv (Bulgaria) and Matera (Italy). Cultural capitals attract tourists, during the year there are festivals, exhibitions, concerts, fairs.

Preparation for the role of the cultural capital of Europe means for the city improvement of appearance and infrastructure: repair, construction, improvement of urban space and transport.
