The state Duma adopted a law on the return of smokers to the airports of the country

The State Duma adopted a law on the return of smokers to airport buildings, the document was introduced in 2017 by Deputy Sergei Boyarsky (EP).

After clarifications, the health and transport committees recommended the adoption of the bill in the first reading.

The Ministry of Health opposed the fact that the return of smoking rooms to airports will cause an increase in the number of smokers.

The state Duma, however, in July passed the bill in the first reading.
Before the second reading, the document was amended to ban transparent walls in the smoking room.

According to Boyarsky, the purpose of the bill is to return clean air to public spaces, because smokers still continue to smoke in the toilets.

Deputy Chairman of the health Committee Leonid Ogul pointed out that the bans were ineffective.

A ban is good when it is effective, and a ban for the sake of a ban only provokes violations.

Vladimir Sinyagovsky, a member of the Transport and Construction Committee (EP), noted that smoking places will be created only in transit zones and for passengers who have passed check-in and inspection.
Smoking is allowed in special rooms, isolated from other people, and equipped with ventilation systems.
