The state Duma approved the increase in duty on passports
Passports of the new generation will become more expensive from August this year.
The state fee for registration of the document will increase from 3,500 to 5,000 rubles (children under 14 years old - from 1,500 to 2,500). On June 19, the State Duma adopted this decision in the third, final reading of the relevant bill.
The federal law will come into force after a month from the date of its official publication, but the document must be approved by the Federation Council and sent for signature to the President. If the approvals take place quickly, it will be in print until the end of June. The new tariffs will then be accepted by the FMS in late July - early August.
The government decided to raise the state duty last year, but then they did not take any measures, and returned to the consideration of the issue only this summer.
The authors of the project are confident that the new tariffs will reimburse the costs of implementing documents with electronic media. Participants of the tourist market are waiting for an increase in demand for their registration in the coming month, when the former state duty will still operate. So travelers will be able to save part of the money – for a family of four, the savings will be, for example, 5,000 rubles (when receiving documents of the new generation).
