India to replace ‘self-observation’ quarantine for tourists
India February 14 abolishes the mandatory weekly quarantine and PCR test on the eighth day of stay for foreigners coming to the country.
Instead of quarantine, tourists will need to engage in some kind of “self-observation”.
The updated protocol is published on the website of the Ministry of Health of India.
Now both vaccinated and unvaccinated Russians can come to India.
According to the updated protocol, before traveling to India, all travelers must fill out a form on the Air Suvidha website. Here you need to provide information about the last 14 days. A negative COVID-19 test result (made 72 hours before travel) or a full COVID-19 vaccination cycle certificate must be uploaded to the form.
Currently, citizens of 82 countries can enter India only with a vaccination certificate, but Russia is not one of them. Therefore, all Russian tourists must load a fresh PCR test into the form: without this, the airline will not put the passenger on board.
Passengers must give consent to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Government of India, through the relevant airlines, before they are allowed to travel, that they “will comply with the requirements of home/institutional quarantine/self-monitoring, if necessary, as determined by the relevant government authority.”
During boarding, only asymptomatic travelers will be allowed on board. They'll take their temperature. Temperature will also be measured on arrival in India. If passengers with symptoms are found, they will be immediately isolated and taken to a medical facility.
Passengers will be randomly tested (2% of the total number of passengers on the flight) at the airport on arrival. They will pass the tests and then be allowed to leave the airport immediately.
All travellers must "self-monitor their health for the next 14 days after arrival."
If self-monitored travelers develop signs and symptoms indicating the presence of COVID-19, they should immediately self-isolate and report it to the nearest medical facility or call the national helpline (1075) / state helpline.
The Russian operational headquarters opened India in October last year. But there was no mass tourist flow from Russia, comparable to the pre-pandemic years, to this country.
The exemptions, introduced in the country since February 14, officially open India to tourists.
