Acting Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation announced the possible expansion of air communication with Egypt
Acting Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Maxim Sokolov said that air communication between Russia and Egypt may expand as a result of the launch of regular flights to the regions of the Arab Republic.
The tourism industry is discussing the emerging opportunity to allow tourists to fly to the resorts of Egypt by direct flights. The cost of such a flight will be higher than on charters, but this option is more convenient than the current one: by air from Moscow to Cairo, and a long trip to the hotel.
At Aeroflot and EgyptAir, which work on the route, the cost of one-way tickets is actually comparable to the price of travel before the ban on flights (from 21 thousand rubles). If the authorities issue permission for flights to the resort cities of Egypt, it will interest not only the national carrier.
Existing permits for flights to the regions of Egypt have the airline "Russia" (to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh from Moscow and St. Petersburg), "Ikar" (the same from Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk and Khabarovsk), "Saratov Airlines" (from Saratov), "Ural Airlines" (from St. Petersburg) and "Yamal" (from Moscow to Hurghada). Experts are sure that carriers will take advantage of the opportunity, and then the advantage will be given to Biblio-Globus, the customer of flights of Russia, and Pegasus Touristik, loading the boards of Icarus.
There is another point of view. Perhaps, the desire to increase air traffic with Egypt from Russia arose not in order for tourists to be more comfortable to get to the place of rest. If negotiations with the Egyptian aviation authorities start in late spring, as previously discussed, that is, the opportunity to arrange transportation to the upcoming World Cup 2018. Observers believe that under the regions of Egypt Sokolov could have meant not resorts, but large cities - Alexandria, Luxor, El Giza, Suez, etc.
