Italy explained the rules for issuing the Russians five-year Schengen

After the entry into force in 2020 of the new rules for issuing Schengen visas, tourists from Russia will be able to obtain an entry document for five years. This was stated by the Consul General. Italy Francesco Forte.

According to him, visas for three or four years will no longer be issued, and innovations should improve the organization of the process of issuing entry documents.

“The duration of the visa will be adjusted for one year, two years and five years. I think that Muscovites who often travel to Europe will be able to count on a five-year visa at once.

In 2018, the Consulate General of Italy in Moscow issued 470 thousand visas to applicants, and a total of 680 thousand Russians visited the country.

In June of this year, the Council of the European Union approved amendments to the visa code, which set the conditions for obtaining long-term Schengen visas. A multiple entry visa for a year will be issued if the applicant has obtained and legally used three visas within the previous two years. A two-year visa can be obtained if the applicant legally obtained and used a one-year visa in the previous two years.

If a traveler has legally obtained and used a multiple-entry visa within three years, he is likely to be approved of a five-year Schengen visa.
