Because of the coronavirus, Russian Railways sets minimum prices for long-distance travel

Due to the situation with the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in the country, Russian Railways (Russian Railways) set the minimum possible prices for tickets on long-distance trains in the company’s tariffs.

This was reported by RIA Novosti, referring to the deputy general director of the company Dmitry Pegov.

“If we are talking about tariff setting, it is now formed at a minimum tariff. This is on trains with coupe cars and on high-speed trains. Because we have significantly reduced the flow of passengers, of course, the system itself sets the fare programmatically at a minimum tariff.”

The fare in the seat and common cars is set by the state represented by the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), that is, all discounts and other preferential conditions are valid.

To establish the value, a system of dynamic pricing was used in sleeping cars, coupes, suites and high-speed trains, where prices were determined by certain parameters, including the number of free seats. Due to the decrease in passenger traffic amid the spread of infection, Russian Railways cancels several long-distance trains that have an alternative.

Earlier, Russian Railways reported on the restriction of seats in cars to take into account the social distance of passengers.
