The International Civil Aviation Association (IATA) extended the currency exchange rate of the previous week until March 11, 2020 and unveiled a new rate for March 12.

March 10-11, according to experts, is the best time to buy tickets abroad. From March 12, tickets for international flights may rise by more than 10%.

Tickets can still be purchased on March 10-11.

From March 12 to March 17, 2020, the internal exchange rate of the IATA euro will be 82 rubles. The dollar exchange rate at IATA is 72.5 rubles. Thus, flights to dollar destinations will rise in price from Thursday, March 12, by 9.02%. Tickets to destinations in Europe will rise by 11.56%.

Biletix estimated that the average check booking round-trip flights to international destinations last week (March 2-8) amounted to 15,660 rubles. The average check is expected to grow by 10%, to 17,226 rubles.

However, this is less than in the same period last year, when the average check for round trip tickets was 18,897 rubles (at the beginning of last year, the high cost of oil caused an increase in the cost of aviation fuel). Thus, even taking into account the upcoming jump in prices for air tickets abroad, the cost of flights abroad will be lower than last year, Biletix said.

Against the background of negative information in the context of the spread of coronavirus, the company noted an increase in the number of applications for the exchange of tickets: from 1.2% to 6% of all bookings.

Over the past week, Biletix has recorded a reorientation of tourists to Cyprus (2-8 March Moscow-Larnaca bookings increased by 333% compared to the same period in 2019), UAE ?Dubai+65.2 per cent), Turkey ?Istanbul+ 51.2%), Greece (Athens, + 20%).
