Are summer tickets in Russia cheaper?

Summer holidays in Russia will cost less for independent travelers - the average price of air tickets in the country for June-August decreased, according to various estimates, by 3-14%, market participants say.

According to Skyscanner booking statistics, the average cost of domestic flights in rubles decreased by 14% in the summer. In 2016, a round-trip ticket in Russia in the period from June to August cost an average of 13.4 thousand rubles, and this year - 11.5 thousand rubles, - said Skyscanner development manager in Russia D. Khavansky.

Confirms the decrease in ticket prices – though not so significant – and the service Aviasales. After studying 2 million flight searches between June and August 2017, Aviasales experts noted a decrease in the average price of air tickets in all federal districts (the result for the country is minus 2.64%) compared to the same period last year. The ticket on average costs 15.3 thousand rubles, — said the press service of the service.

Cheaper resorts

Khavansky: the average price for departures from Moscow in the summer fell by 10%, 17 of the 20 most interesting routes in Russia fell in price. Tickets from Moscow to Mineralnye Vody and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (-21%), Chelyabinsk (-20%) and Kazan (-15%) fell the most.

The price of resort destinations decreased - Anapa by 12%, Sochi by 10%, Krasnodar by 8%, Gelendzhik by 6%. But in Simferopol tickets there from Moscow slightly increased in price, less than 1%.

Departures to the south from the regions fell. Tickets from the cities of the Far East have become cheaper by 3% this year, and Ural travelers can save 19% on tickets to Simferopol.

Flights to St. Petersburg from the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts fell the most. “The annual savings were 20 and 24 per cent. This can be explained by the expansion of the geography of flights of the low-cost airline "Victory" and the introduction of baggage-free tariffs, - Aviasales experts explain.

Traveling by train in Russia is not profitable

In June, the cheapest ticket from Moscow to Sochi (and back) will cost 5.6 thousand rubles, by train travel will cost 7.27 thousand rubles. The same situation with St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg, Aviasales said.

On a number of routes, the difference in the cost of tickets is still in favor of the train - it is more profitable to get to Sochi from Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan and Perm by rail, but you will have to go for 1 - 3 days.
