How do Russians treat their compatriots abroad?
The international travel portal Momondo conducted a study in which it was able to establish that more than 10% of Russians do not want to communicate with compatriots on foreign trips, and half of Russians are neutral towards fellow citizens abroad, but enter into a conversation if they are the first to show initiative.
“6% simply do not want to bother talking to strangers, 3% prefer to communicate exclusively with locals during the trip. And 2% of travelers from our country admitted that together with their fellow travelers switch to another language or lower their voice, so that Russian tourists do not suddenly talk to them. Only 18% of respondents are happy to meet and start a conversation. Another 13% smile at them but do not start a conversation.
The portal interviewed residents of 26 countries, the analysis involved more than 26 thousand people. Russians have become not the most sociable, the championship belongs to travelers from India: 43% of them start talking with their compatriots on their own, less likely to do it residents of Finland (9%).
One in ten people in China admits that they switch to another language so that they do not communicate in their native language in other countries.
The desire to start a conversation with a compatriot abroad almost does not depend on gender - men become the initiators of the conversation in 18% of cases, and women - in 17%. The age is significant: Russians from 56 to 65 years old often (22%) contact themselves, young people (18-22 years old) try to get away from communication.
Among people who are ready for dialogue with compatriots, resort romances occur more often. Of those who at least once had a romantic relationship on vacation, 83% admit that they are ready to communicate with another tourist from Russia. Of those who have never fallen in love on vacation, 74 percent said so.
