How is Cairo preparing for flights from Moscow?
From April 12, Moscow-Cairo flights will resume, 2.5 years after the closure of air traffic.
EgyptAir will fly to the Russian capital three times a week from April 12, with Airbus A320 on the route. The airline reports to the Egyptian media about the “average” load of Moscow flights, but observers from Russia, given the new discounts of the carrier, say that these figures will be below the “average” level.
Experts note that even in the quietest time, the flight did not load to the end. Moscow-Cairo flights were in demand among business audiences and members of the Egyptian diaspora.
In March, EgyptAir sold tickets for flights to Moscow with discounts of 35% in economy class and 50% in business. New discounts are less than March: only 25% and on all fares; no matter the class of travel. You can buy tickets at a quarter discount from the fare until April 30 to use the round-trip flight from April 14 to May 31, 2018.
Online aggregators report the following prices: a round-trip flight from Moscow to Cairo from April 19 to April 26 (departure April 19, return April 26), will cost 19,600 rubles. Tickets at the first stage cost 23,500 rubles. A ticket with departure on April 18, return on April 24 costs from 23,300 rubles.
Specialists from Russia, who will constantly serve Aeroflot and EgyptAir flights departing for Moscow, have already left for Egypt.
According to the agreement between Russia and Egypt, the Russians and their Egyptian counterparts will ensure security at the airport: control the inspection of baggage and hand luggage, cargo on flights.
Due to additional security measures, Aeroflot and EgyptAir will send flights to Moscow from Cairo from Terminal 2, where a single exit will open for passengers to the Russian capital.
Flights from Moscow will stay at Terminal 3, a permanent base.
Rosaviatsia is confident that the experience of joint work on sending flights to Moscow will help to work out cooperation, which will be useful if charters from Russia are opened to Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada.
Alexander Neradko, the head of the department, believes that “everything related to the resumption of air traffic with Egypt, especially in resort destinations” is a subject of “great concern”. He is sure that first of all it is necessary to practice safety skills, and then to study the possibility of flights to the resorts – Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada.
