Which areas are considered the most popular and expensive?

Experts of the international payment system Mastercard Global Destination Cities Index told where most tourists are, and listed the places where travelers spend large sums.

For the past four years, BangkokThailand) remains the most popular destination. In 2018, more than 22 million foreigners visited it. On the 2nd and 3rd positions were Paris and London (over 19 million tourists).

The rating includes Dubai, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, New York, Istanbul, Tokyo, Antalya.

Dubai became the leader in tourist spending - visitors spend an average of $553 per day. Mecca ranks second, Bangkok third.

Top included Russian cities Moscow. St. Petersburg. Novosibirsk. Vladivostok. ekaterinburg. Moscow is in the 80th place – in 2018 the capital Russian Federation 2.5 million foreigners visited, spending $192 a day.

St. Petersburg takes 118th place in the ranking. In 2018, it was visited by 1.3 million travelers who spent more than in Moscow – $269 per day.
